The B's return to Venice

Today, Monday 10th the boys returned. So good to see them and we spent ages just catching up and telling each other about our respective time apart. Clearly they had a good time and it was great to catch up. It snowed on Trento and they went snow walking and some very funny stories of these experiences were shared, particularly falling into the snow. They did a spot of shopping and the story about the silver credit card had us all laughing over dinner tonight. I am sure that this will take BJK through many dinners.
Apparently when he rescued BJL by paying for the purchase the woman at the counter made some sign like a cat. I can only assume BJK's tone relayed his frustration over the card.

Today after they returned we had lunch at the local Tavern across the way then went to San Marco to do some banking and also to check about mail. The post office was closed and seems to do so at 2:00pm daily. It was now 2:30pm. The B's were also having difficulty finding an ATM whilst I was still wandering purposely towards the hotel. During this purposeful wandering I was watching some Gondala's and failed to hear BJK's  instructions.

After being entertained by the Gondola's I continued to walk and realized that the B's had left me and simply assumed they thought I was fine by myself. I was of course, but after going over the Accademia bridge they came up behind me and gave me quite a start and had been wondering where I was. So then we were back at the hotel.

After a well earned rest we then set out for Harry's Bar in San Marco. BJK and I took the ferry and BJL beat us there. We enjoyed Harry's and after 3 Billinnis (1 each), 1 diet light, 1 martini and one snack and €85 we left. BJK paid.

Walking back to the hotel our discussion was about having lunch at Harry's Bar tomorrow. We agreed we would but I think we will reconsider in the morning. Found another little restaurant in a quiet square not far from our place and enjoyed our meal and wine, but the music was not so good - Janice Joplin and a number of other old American tunes that seemed to have no connection with the overall atmosphere of the restaurant. I did notice, however, that this did seem to the the theme in many restaurants throughout Italy.

On Tuesday 11th the debate about Harry's Bar continued over breakfast. At the point BJL was continuing to support the proposal whilst BJK and I were more ambivalent. The ambivalence was more about the cost so the decision was further deferred until the menu and wine list could be reviewed via the Internet. In other words BJK was to undertake more research. The result was that apparently there is a Harry's Bar over on ???. So this was now the plan. Visit the Accademia Gallery, go to San Marco to do the mailing, return to our local bar for a roll and wine then proceed to ??? and Harry's Bar and some exploration.

So off we go. We start with the Accademia Gallery. It continues to amaze me just how beautiful each different sight we visit is. Every time I think that this cannot be outdone, and the next location leaves me speechless with it's beauty, size, history, skills, and overall splendor. This Gallery was no exception. The facade looked good, but did nothing to prepare me for what awaited inside, nor did it prepare me for the overall expanse of the facility. Words elude me to continue describing the beauty and marvels of this trip.

On departing the Gallery we head for the post office. BJK was marvelous. He moved us through the process of parcels and regulations for posting. It was really quite impressive and I am sure his skills helped considerably in the whole process. That done we return to our favorite bar for a roll and wine. The main man seems to recognize us now and gives us a slight smile although in my case the attempts at Italian are pretty poor.

Then I return to the hotel and the B's continue to ????? For Harry's Bar and coffee. When next I see them the bar was closed but as one always expects they managed to find some lovely little spot for coffee.
Dinner is planned but I do not go - the B's have had recommendation from the hotel for a small restaurant not far from our accommodation. We had intended going to Montin again but it was closed.

Again they have hit on a lovely restaurant the highlight of which, apart from the food, was a young man who was telling them about his difficulties with girlfriends in Spain, Rome, Paris etc. Of course the B's were able to offer sound advice.
